NORTHWEST MONTANA’S PREMIERE ROCK BAND
This passionate collective brings a camaraderie to the band that each member has been waiting for.
Rock Vocalist, Lorelei, shares messaging that pulls out the human instinct, delivering genuine performances with her team’s solid instrumentation. She brings tones layered from the 70s & 80s rock projections to heavy vocal effects thrown into the mix. From workmanship based out of Seattle and Denver, her past bands have toured the Western U.S. in the 80s circuit and on into the 90’s. They brought revised rock covers and their originals, gaining radio airplay with No Rest, The Search, & Without Love by Prowler, and Lookin’ Out For #1 by Ictus.
2018…came a regeneration containing a new team, when Lorelei and nephew, Guitarist Andrew Christopher, formed Sunlight Black. From the Seattle area, Andrew is creatively gifted with sound effects, strong riffs, and smooth leads. Guitarist, Matt Cardoza, brings in classic lead guitar stylings, along with deep influences of the 90s and fills that put the final glue on each Sunlight Black song. From Iowa to Montana, Drummer Brett Larson is a solid heavy hitter, straight forward guy, and rhythm extraordinaire.

Lorelei is a vocalist, producer, and songwriter. She started her music career at the age of nineteen in the Pacific Northwest, continuing performances based out of Colorado and touring the Western United States. While singing 80’s rock singles, she started writing and producing originals with her band members and has achieved radio airplay in Colorado, Washington state, Wyoming, Texas, Nebraska and abroad.
Lorelei embraces vocal sound effects from a love of classic musicals, to soul, rock, and heavy metal. Barbara Streisand and Carole King were among some of her first stage performances, beginning in sixth grade. She was the vocalist for Seattle’s rock band, Ictus, and Denver bands throughout 80s -90’s, such as Prime Suspect, Network, Prowler, Bitchin’ Heat, and Isis Burning. Currently she enjoys her Montana based band, Sunlight Black.
In 2018, Lorelei opened SoundStation 108 recording and rehearsal studios in Montana. She enjoys family time in and on Flathead Lake, walking her dogs, bycycling, and enjoying the surrounding beauty of the Mission and Glacier Mountain ranges.
At 19 years old, Matt received a scholarship for Bigfork, Montana’s annual guitar workshop,“Crown of the Continent”, and soon after he formed his first rock band, Ageless. In 2017, Matt attended the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp in Burbank, California where he played with Jerry Cantrell and Mike Inez of Alice In Chains, Robert and Dean Delao from the Stone Temple Pilots, and also members of Buckcherry and CandleBox.
Originally from Grand Junction, Colorado and Eden, Wyoming, Matt picked up his first guitar (Cherry Red Excel) at the age of 8 and soon after relocated to Polson, Montana. Topping his ‘favorite bands list’ are: Alice In Chains, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Pink Floyd, Bad Company, Boston, Alterbridge, Ghost, Seether and many more. Specifically, his favorite vocalists are Layne Staley, Myles Kennedy, and Jerry Cantrell. Songs influencing him to play guitar at a young age were: “Sabbra Caddabra”, Sabbath remake, performed by Metallica, and “Rain When I Die” by Alice in Chains.
Andrew Christopher was inspired by the Seattle music scene and started playing guitar at the age of 15. He grew up in Woodinville, Washington where he also enjoyed playing baseball and football as well as horse riding. After attending numerous rock concerts, he started learning basic power chords from a friend and evolved through his college years into an original artist. He worked with Lorelei, and they wrote their first original song when performing with his Montana band, Sunday Buzz.
Currently, Andrew is working as an engineer at SoundStation 108. Sunlight Black values Andrew’s dedication and creativity as a productive guitarist and songwriter!
Originally from Orange County, CA, Brandon switched from guitar to bass in high school when he was offered a position in the jazz band. He continued to play with rock and punk bands. In college, he became a founding member of the Sunset Party band, out of Bakersfield. Since then, Brandon has played rock, punk, orchestral, jazz, choral, ska, and many other types of music. Some of his favorite gigging experiences were shows in LA at The Teaser, the Roxy, and Whiskey A Go Go.
Buckethead, Les Claypool, Yo Yo Ma, Steve Harris, and Jim Creeggan are among Brandon’s biggest influences. His first collected Lp’s were Michael Jackson’s Beat It and Lick It Up by Kiss. Music performances on movie soundtracks and in orchestras has made him into the well-rounded artist he is today. His other passions include building robots, making movies, and enjoying events with community and family. Brandon plays his rebuilt, six string fretless bass with Sunlight Black.
Brett started playing drums at ten years of age, and picked up guitar during his high school freshman year in Iowa. He continued drumming in his school band, Hourglass, while co-writing songs. Brett recorded and produced the band’s cd’s in his home based recording studio. Playing off and on with various bands and church music ministry groups, he was pleasantly busy throughout and beyond his college years. Over time Brett has added keyboards to his array of music skills, and enjoys the outdoor thrills of camping, hiking, boating, fishing, and skiing, with an eye for landscape photography.
In 2011, he relocated his family to Colorado and then in 2015, to North West Montana. Brett joined his original drum stylings with the Sunlight Black band in 2019 and is combining his production/recording experience as a team member of the SoundStation 108 Studios’ engineers.
